Designing a new and better way to save and invest
Managing savings and investments should feel empowering, yet for many of DNB’s customers, it felt complex, unclear, and easy to put off.
A chance to rethink the experience
DNB saw an opportunity to do more than improve a tool. They wanted to reshape how people think about saving altogether.
Together with Designit, the goal became clear. Create an experience that simplifies complexity, builds confidence, and encourages action.
Starting with real behaviours
We began by understanding how people actually relate to money.
Not just who they are, but how they behave. What motivates them to save. What holds them back. Where confidence breaks.
Instead of static personas, we defined dynamic need groups. Patterns of behaviour that reflect real financial mindsets, from cautious planners to passive savers.
This became a shared lens across teams, helping designers, developers, and stakeholders align around what really matters to users.
Designing clarity into every decision
From these insights, we reimagined the savings and investment experience end to end, strengthening design leadership across digital, UX, and service design.
The result was Spare, a unified tool that brings everything into one place, helping users understand their options, see the bigger picture, and take action with clarity.
Complex financial choices become easier to navigate. Saving starts to feel achievable, not overwhelming.
